Spark Cycleworks Brute Review: The Tank of E-Bikes

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back! Today I am checking out the newly updated “tank” of the ebike world—the Spark Cycleworks Brute. I met up with Matt at the Spark HQ to see the latest changes, and let me tell you, this thing lives up to its name. It’s big, it’s heavy, and now it finally comes in a sleek black finish that everyone has been asking for.

The Brute isn’t just about looks; it’s about raw, reliable power. With a new Far Driver controller setup and a massive 72V battery, this bike pushes around 5,000 watts nominal and peaks near 10,000 watts. It is built to be a reliable daily commuter that can handle anything you throw at it.

Performance & Speed Tests

When it comes to performance, the Brute is a torque monster. While it’s conservatively rated for a Top Speed of 55 mph, it gets there with authority. The new ND72450 controller ensures that power delivery is smooth yet forceful, making it easy to keep up with traffic on major roads.

The hill climbing ability is exactly what you’d expect from a 10kW peak system—it eats hills for breakfast. Even with the heavy frame and moto tires, it accelerates uphill without breaking a sweat. To see how it stacks up against the competition, check the Leaderboards.

Ride Quality & Features

This bike rides like a motorcycle, largely due to the 16-inch moto wheels and thick tires. It feels incredibly planted and stable at high speeds. The frame updates and the beefy dropouts give you the confidence that this machine is future-proof and ready for even more power if you ever decide to mod it.

Brute Display and Handlebars

The updated display is a nice touch, giving you real-time data on motor and controller temperatures, which is crucial for high-performance riding. Plus, the new mirrors are some of the best I’ve used, offering great visibility and adjustability.
